29th December Reminder that Paint balling starts at 10am prompt for 2 hours of mayhem and splatter. C U There Steve
15th Nov New tracksuits bought by parents and topped up by a generous sponsorship donation by Speedline taxis are unveiled. The objective in the picture was to look as mean as possible to scare the opposition, a task taken to all bar J P who said ;later he was "thinking about the previous weeks gym session where the coaches held the tackle shields." 17th September Dean Muir goes back to university having been bowled over by the under 14s. Come and see us soon Dean.
2nd September 2006 Andy Feather Signs 2 year contract Cubs sponsored Andy Feather signed has been offered a two year contract for Keighley Cougars following his impressive showing in his starts over the season. Ex Cub Feather who started as a Keighley Cougar Cub at under 8's was quoted as saying " this ones for Uncle Steve. His £1 for the tries I got as a youngster kept me going" 1st September 2006 The under 14s kick off their season in a friendly against Hull Side Skirlaugh Bulls ahead of the official start to the season on 10th September.
18th June Presentation Day Sat 24th. We are due on at 5.30pm. No doubt if England lose on Tuesday and so play on Saturday, there would be a slight delay to our proceedings.!!!
5th June TRAINING STARTS TUESDAY 20TH JUNE AT 6PM. (note 6pm start) It is hoped to run training sessions on Tuesdays , Thursdays and Saturdays from this time. We still await a time for the presentation day. We would ask however if the kids could wear their red cougar polo tops. If anyone has lost them or needs a larger size, Mike MIGHT have some spares to sell of certain sizes. Contact Mike for further details. thanks
Steve
24th May Presentation Day has been confirmed as 24th June. Time likely to be around 2pm but this is not confirmed. I hope to be able to raise funds on the day as usual so I am trying to blag some tombola prizes from work, but if anyone has anything kicking about then all would be accepted with thanks. See you all soon Steve
9th April Thanks to all who contributed to the Easter Raffle. Just over £500 was raised for club house funds. Whilst it was an under 16s ticket that won the first prize, it was our own Liz Stead who will bne piling on the pounds and chomping away over Easter, unless of course Ben has something to say about it!
2nd April Grand Easter Raffle A reminder please to return raffle ticket stubs and money to Debbie on Tuesday as Holy Family, or to Margaret down at Utley on Saturday. The draw will be made by the Van at Utley Car park by Andy Feather after training.
19th March Under 13s sponsored Andy Feather scored a great individual try today in the Cougars excellent win over Halifax. The Cougars were awesome and made the Division 1 team look ordinary as they played scintillating rugby to take their first points in the National Rail Cup.
12th March The Cougar Cubs Treasure Hunt took place on Saturday with 16 cars setting out from Utley including good representation form the under 13s. Those who thought it would be a doddle with some easy clues were sadly mistaken as Bob Gillard had people scratching their heads after the first clue. The first team back was from own under 13s led by "Jenson" TJ , soon followed the speedy James "Hunt" Pickles. The Whiteheads then arrived in good time but mysteriously 2 pages of clues had been abandoned. Emmerson Fitipaldi Ives was dogged throughout the course by his driver going the wrong way and delayed by a pit stop at Chez Palmers just as a curry was being served. Sean "Schumacker" Newton soon followed delayed perhaps by some "helpful" clues by the ruthless Coach who tried to send him running along the A629 to Keighley. The tombola run by the delicate and demure debbie (thanks to all who contributed the great prizes) helped raise over £200. The winners were the Doveston's from the under 12s.

22nd Feb Under 13s Sponsor Ex Cougar Cub Andy Feather
27th Jan PONTOON This is the game where you pay £1 per week, have a random football team selected and the goals they score are added up and as the weeks go by the first team to score exactly 11 gets a payout. We have had two winners in the last two rounds, and it also provides funds for the club. If you want to be added to the list of teams, see Debbie . 24th Jan Under 13s Quiz Team Winners As well as scoring 100 points without reply on the field over the last two games, winning ways off the field continued on Friday night when Mike Pickles, Mike Aitchison, Debbie and Steve Ives won the Cubs Sponsored Quiz night at Cougar Park in aid of Phil Stephenson's Testimonial year. The under 13s led from the start dropping just one point in the opening picture round proving that Mr Pickles is allegedly a couch potato and regularly reads women's magazines as he led the way with the answers. In the General knowledge round the domination over the opposition continued with a one point advantage remaining helped by green fingered Debbie picking up a gardening question about Snap dragons. Music and film questions threatened to spoil the party with the team trying too hard and crossing out several correct answers in favour of others to make the final rounds interesting but Mr Pickles again proved his worth and came up with the goods. A mediocre picture round for the 13s then followed which convinced the team that they had blown the chance of victory before the solid Steve Ives and Aitchison mopped up the final General Knowledge round to storm to victory by a massive margin of one point. 18th December The Cubs Christmas Party is on TUESDAY 27th December. Place: Prestige Karting, Holker Business Centre, Burnley Rd Colne BB8 8EG tel 0870 9089395. Time 3pm prompt for safety talk and kit out for a 3.30 start. Important notes:- Whilst it is indoors, it is very cold , so all should wrap up warm. Min age 12yrs and 4ft 6. Whilst we will have a great time, safety is crucial and I have been asked by the owners to stress that drivers will be taken off the track and not allowed to drive if they are causing trouble/driving dangerously etc. These are 200cc engines and will be quick! Please remind everyone to be sensible I have booked a Grand Prix event for circa 25 albeit this is flexible up to max of 30. Cost should anyone want to join in, and meet age/height restrictions is £25. Drivers will be provided with overalls but jumpers /fleeces will be needed nothing too posh as overalls could be oily. T shirts will not be adequate underneath. There are several viewing areas for parents to observe the crashes.! After the driving we will have the buffet bonanza banquet that we have all contributed to. We should be finished before 7pm. Below is the list of what parents said they could provide. Could you please try and bring enough of your chosen food for around 20 growing kids. !! I am sure parents will hoover up the rest (if there is any!) once the team have had their fill.
Steve 7th November Cubs Parents Christmas Meal Clare is organising this and has provisionally booked 40 places at Tams Chinese for FRIDAY 2nd December . The Restaurant will if required and told in advance cook a Steak or something for those not keen . thanks Steve 20th October For those taking part in Pontoon, the positions are updated weekly and can be found by going to the website www.cougarcubs.co.uk Good luck
16th October Grand Final Trip The squad enjoyed a trip to the Grand Final at Old Trafford on Saturday and despite differing allegiances enjoyed the occasion and were a credit in terms of behaviour to the Cougar Cubs. Most would also agree that on the day the best team won. Thanks to Mike of the under 12s for arranging the tickets and coaches for this great occasion and for Debbie and Steve for the goodie bags and drinks. 9th October Training this week at Holy Family as usual on Tuesday, Saturday training will start at 9.30 for one hour. Reminder: Grand Final 15th October Bulls V Rhinos at Old Trafford Coach leaves 13.30 from outside Keighley College.
25th September Launch of "Pontoon" to raise club funds. Pay £1 per week and be allocated a football team at random. The first team to score exactly 11 goals wins £50, and then the teams are re allocated again. See Debbie for details. Remember Grand Final Day at Old Trafford is Saturday 15th October and all squad members are going. Meet near Witherspoons around 1pm.
18th September Note to Parents: Plans are starting to be made for the Christmas Meal. Initial thoughts are to book old favourite Tams Chinese Restaurant. Watch this space! Anyone with any other ideas for other social events see the Coaches.
12th September 2006 Plans to take all the Under 13 squad to the Grand Final at Old Trafford in October are underway with all squad members being treated to transportation and tickets to one of the highlights of the professional season. In all 42 under 13 players and family will join at least 3 coaches from the Cougar Cubs to Old Trafford. If all goes well no doubt even more excitement will be realised as a Weekend trip to the Challenge Cup Final at the what will be the New Wembley Stadium, could be organised for next year.
